Your child will have access to our Myrtle Point and Coquille Facilities, Equipment and age appropriate classes.

Intro Jiu Jitsu:
So, you’re curious about jiu-jitsu, or perhaps you are looking to return after a long break? That’s awesome! Jiu Jitsu offers a powerful blend of technique and mental focus over brute strength making it an attractive option for everyone.
The Gracie Coquille Brazilian Jiu Jitsu Intro Program is designed for Adults but teens are welcome to attend. The intro program has a set curriculum consisting of 39 lessons divided into 3 sections. At the end of each section the student is tested for proficiency to receive a stripe. The intro program can be completed in as little as 6 months of consistent training and will leave you prepared to move to the Advanced Jiu Jitsu classes.
What to Expect:
- Fundamentals First: Our intro program is Gi only and prioritizes the core techniques of Jiu Jitsu. You will learn escapes, takedowns, and primary submissions. You do not need athleticism, previous martial arts experience, a high degree of fitness or abnormal flexibility to learn and enjoy Jiu Jitsu. BJJ is for EVERYONE. Show up and we will take it from there.
- Supportive Environment: Making the mind and body connection while overcoming any physical or mental obstacles can be very frustrating. This is a normal part of the process and our instructors will help you overcome any difficulties you may run into.
- Safety for Longevity: The Gracie Coquille intro program focuses on technique through positional drilling. For safety and to maximize your training retention, sparring, known as Rolling in Jiu Jitsu, is reserved for classes outside of intro.
- Curriculum Driven: You will receive a syllabus outlining everything that will be covered in each section. You will also have free access to supplemental training videos on key techniques covered in class.

Here are some tips for starting the intro program:
- Get a water bottle: Always bring a full water bottle to class.
- Invest in a Gi: This traditional uniform is required for intro class. Of course, we prefer that you get one of our Gracie Coquille Gis but any Gi you have access to will work. Please be aware that a Gi meant for other Martial Arts is often not functional for grappling and can tear when put to the test.
- Start slow and listen to your body: Don’t push yourself too hard, especially in the beginning. People often become obsessed with Jiu Jitsu when they first start and attempt to train too often and too hard. It takes months, not days or weeks, to progress in BJJ. Your body needs adequate time to rest and recoverbetween sessions.
- Check your ego at the door: You will get tapped every time you train. No matter your size, your strength or your abilities “in the street” you will get beat by someone you think is not a threat. This is a humbling experience that many can’t get past.
- Remember, the most important step is to show up!
Advanced Gi & No Gi Jiu Jitsu:
